We have an important role to play in supporting education for healthcare professionals. But we also recognise that some practices – such as directly funding education, paying HCPs to speak about our medicines or funding travel to meetings – may leave room for perceived bias or conflict of interest. We also know that technology offers you new ways to access the information you need more quickly and easily.
So that is why we are changing the way we work with HCPs – to ensure that all our interactions with you are open, transparent and meet your needs.
This is how we’re changing.
GSK sales representatives globally will no longer be rewarded for numbers of prescriptions written. We will continue to invest in training our representatives so they have the knowledge and skills to provide you with reliable information but they will also be rewarded for the quality of their interaction with you.
We will continue to support medical education in new and different ways. We will stop direct payments to HCPs for speaking engagements by the start of 2016, to eliminate any perceived conflict of interest in the choice of treatments for patients. We will transparently report payments for HCP expertise for activities like clinical research, advisory boards and market research that help us develop medicines and vaccines to meet patients’ needs.

Our goal is to provide you with the high quality, balanced and objective information you need when, where and how you want it. We want to continue to be a company you can trust to always put the patient first in every engagement with you. We will provide timely, reliable and clinically relevant information on our medicines, vaccines and patient management materials that’s available when you need it.
We will provide fast answers to your questions about treatment, guidelines or clinical trial data through a GSK medical expert using digital media, either during a face-to-face meeting with our medical representatives or at a time convenient to you in some of our markets.
A dedicated website, accessible on your mobile device, will enable you to access trusted resources at a time convenient to you. 24-hour access to short online tutorials will provide you with immediate access to patient information on appropriate product use.
